First Day of Spring
![]()
Today, on the first day of spring, I mowed the grass for the first time this year. To me, mowing the grass is a time when everything going on around me is drowned out by the drone of my 3.5-HP Briggs & Stratton and I have the chance to think.

I heard this poem by Garrison Keillor on Wednesday. I thought you might like it.
Here’s the link, since I don’t want to violate any copyright laws. (Err on the side of safety).
If it doesn’t take you right to the Wednesday edition, just scroll to it.

Robb - You reminded me of a book that I bought a while ago titled, “Good Poems” selected and introduced by Garrison. I did go to the link, but most of all I liked this phrase from Ralph Waldo Emerson,
“Spring still makes spring in the mind,
When sixty years are told;
Love wakes anew this throbbing heart,
And we are never old.”

Hey, Bud!
Since you mowed your lawn about one month ago, we’ve had a few days of snow and lots of cold weather. Even natives are getting pretty sick of the delayed springtime!
At least I don’t have to mow yet.
